According to the statistics of National Development and Reform Commission, China's textile and apparel exports reached US $18.59 billion in August, a year on year increase of 2.8 percent.
Besides, cumulative exports of textiles and garments from January to August fetched $118.9 billion, a year on year increase of 9.1 percent, but still remained 10.2 percentage points lower in growth over the same period last year.
Moreover, the country's yarn production touched 1,844,000 tons in August, up 6.7 percent from the same time last year. In the first eight months of this year, national cumulative yarn output registered 14,060,000 tons, marking a year on year rise of 9.3 percent, but 8.1 percentage points down in terms of growth rate compared to the previous year.
Last year, cumulative yarn output reached 21,150,000 tons, up 11 percent, but 7 points lower in growth rate over its preceding year.
Average price of cotton yarn 32s in August was 19,764 yuan per ton, up 215 yuan or 1.1 percent from the previous month. However, price of polyester staple fiber was also recorded at 11,398 yuan per ton, down 463 yuan or 3.9 percent from the previous month.
