5th China International Polyester & Intermediates to be held in Nov

5TH China International Polyester & Intermediates Forum will be held on 6 - 7 November 2008 at Shanghai, China.

The polyester industry went through massive turbulence in 2006 and suffered an extremely bearish second half 2007. In the first six months of 2008, feedstock costs have soared while polyester product prices have moved in the opposite direction.

The situation is now such that polyester companies in all regions not just those older, established businesses in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and the West can no longer rely on their old production methods and business practices or be satisfied with a share of conventional product markets.

It is time for an understanding of macroeconomic policies with a global perspective and to focus on innovative specialised fibre technologies and new applications!

• When will the surge in crude oil prices come to a halt? Will polyester feedstock price increases continue to lag behind those of crude oil? What is preventing polyester producers from passing on these higher feedstock and energy values?
• Do large-scale, conventional production methods still enjoy some competitive advantages? What can we learn from the recycled-PET sector with regard to environmental concerns and protection, cost saving policies and technologies? Is direct conversion of paraxylene to polyester a solution? Which new technologies and products merit our attention or concern?
• The dramatic prediction that “in 2008 one third of Chinese textile players will be washed away” caused panic in the domestic industry. What difficulties are textile companies facing? Are lower export rebate rates, and rising labour costs reducing the competitiveness of Chinese companies?

China Chemical Fiber Economic Information Network (CCFEI) and Tecnon OrbiChem's 5th China International Polyester & Intermediates Forum International Polyester & Intermediates Forum is the ideal time and place to meet to review and discuss these hot issues.

As with our four previous, hugely successful events, the fifth annual forum will contain presentations delivered by the top management from world renowned petrochemical enterprises, technology suppliers, polyester feedstock producers, Chinese polyester producers and a range of related industry associations and institutions.

Each will share their knowledge and experience to give valuable insights into changes in market sentiment, new technologies and products and offer unique opinions on future market trends.
