Sanyo Petrochemicals reduces Benzene production rate

Benzene plant of Sanyo Petrochemical Co Ltd, located at Mizushima is running at 95% capacity. The production capacity of Mizushima plant is 300 KT / year.
Talking to Fibre2Fashion Mr. Jun Tahara, Manager of basic chemical division said that the company has reduced its operations due to negative economics. There is poor demand of Benzene in market.
The company consumes Benzene to produce respective derivatives of Benzene like Caprolactam, Hexanol and Cyclo-Hexane etc. which is again used as raw material in different categories of textile products.
The current price in Asia is over $1,020-1,035 per ton.
