In the first nine months of 2008, total exports turnover of Vietnam reached nearly US $48.6 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 39 percent.
In September alone, the exports turnover stood at $5.3 billion, witnessing an annual growth of 39.4 percent. However, the figure marks a decline of 11.9 percent in comparison to previous month.
From January to September 2008, the nation earned around $6.8 billion by exporting textile and garment products translating in to a growth of 20.2 percent. Footwear fetched almost $3.4 billion during this period for Vietnam, representing a rise of 18.2 percent.
On the other hand, the country had to spend nearly $58 billion for importing various materials and equipment for local consumption and production. It showcases a considerable growth of 33.7 percent when compared to same period of 2007.
