BASF SE, BTC Speciality Chemical Distribution GmbH and BASF ChemTrade GmbH will be presenting themselves for the first time at this year's SEPAWA in Wuerzburg, Germany, from October 15 through 17, 2008 at the shared booth No. 24-29.

The portfolio shown by BASF will comprise new items for cosmetics, bodycare products, detergents and cleaners, and for industrial applications.

Chelating agent eco-efficiency analysis online:
For dishwashing tabs, Trilon M is the most effective and most eco-efficient chelating agent that can be used to completely replace phosphate.

That is the result of an eco-efficiency analysis which BASF carried out for commercially available chelating agents and has published on its Internet page for SEPAWA 2008.

As a leading manufacturer of chelating agents, the chemical company BASF studied three dishwasher tab formulations with different compositions using an eco-efficiency analysis.

Two formulations are based on chelating agents, the other on phosphate. The analysis shows that the new chelating agents of the aminocarboxylate class, such as methylglycinediacetic acid (MGDA) and glutaminic acid diacetic acid (GLDA), are considerably more eco-efficient than sodium triphosphate (STPP).

The first European manufacturers of ADW tabs have already replaced phosphate with methylglycinediacetic acid, which is sold under the brand name Trilon M.

New BASF rheology modifier for liquid detergents:
With immediate effect, BASF is supplying polyacrylate-based rheology modifiers for turbid and transparent liquid detergents.

The new Sokalan AT 120 provides a high level of thickening even when only small quantities are used. Leading detergent manufacturers in Europe are already using it.

The BASF thickener is supplied as a low-viscosity, aqueous dispersion. It offers a high level of flexibility in the formulating process. Sokalan AT 120 can be added both during and at the end of the formulating process.

Depending on the particular production process, stirring of the formulation before thickening can shorten production times and save energy.

More washing power with Luvipur 10:
BASF is adding a low molecular weight modified polymer to its range of active ingredients for liquid detergents. The new additive Luvipur 10 enhances the detergent power of liquid detergents for end consumers and will be supplied from 2009.

Manufacturers can either increase the detergent power of liquid detergents and concentrates by adding Luvipur 10, or save on the use of active substances – anionic surfactants in particular – and hence save money.

The new BASF product is compatible with all standard formulation components and is effective at all water hardness grades.

New ready-to-use anti-fingerprint wax emulsion:
Only just cleaned and already covered in fingerprints again – anyone wanting to avoid such a situation can treat stainless steel appliances and everyday items like, for example, refrigerators and counters with Poligen ES 91022.
