The Ministry of Industry and Trade has recently released a statistic report on textile and garment exports to EU market during the period from January to September. The figures indicated an alarming state for the exports to such big market.
In the month of September, Vietnam earned US $125 million from the EU market, showcasing a decline of around 21 percent as compared to August and rise of over 12 percent over similar period last year. This is the second consecutive month when the export to this market experienced a plunge.
However, this decrease can be attributed to global recession, according to local industry experts.
During the first nine months of the ongoing year, the export figures touched $1.26 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 17.72 percent.
