Polyester / polyester composite filament market to weaken

18
Nov '08
In the week that ended November 16, the price of polyester / polyester composite filament fell in, both, Shengze and Jiaxing markets. The plunge in prices was influenced by massive slump in rates of polyester filament and poor sales of related fabrics in downstream sector.

The average drop in polyester / polyester composite filament was 300-400 yuan per ton, while sale of its products also decelerated.

Offers for DT-led + POY 50 +50 and 68 +50 fell to 10,000 and 9800 yuan per ton, respectively. Meanwhile, quotations for DT-led + POY 100 +50, 100 +75, 100 +100 and 100 +125 dropped to 9300, 9000, 8700 and 8600 yuan per ton, respectively. However, added concessions are still provided during actual transactions.

The key reasons for the price drop of polyester / polyester composite filament is that market for polyester products was sluggish as was that of fabrics. Demand continued to shrink, which affected sales price of polyester / polyester composite filament products.

Experts predict that in coming months the polyester / polyester composite filament market will weaken further.
