For the on going fiscal, the J&K Handicrafts Corporation Limited has set a sales target of Rs138.65 million.
During the first eight months, the Corporation sold handicraft goods worth Rs58.9 million against target of Rs71.5 million to accounting for 83 percent of the total targets.
During the 113th meeting of Board of Directors of the Corporation held on December 1, chaired by H H Tyabji, Advisor to Governor, J&K, it was disclosed that the Corporation has made steady growth over last few years and has potential of self-sustenance. Board has also introduced sales incentives scheme for its employees.
Exhibitions and crafts Bazaars of handicrafts with in the country and overseas were approved by the Corporation. Observing the whole hearted response the Board intends to open new branches at Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
During the meeting Mr S L Bhat, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development Department, Additional Secretary to Government Industries and Commerce Department, Director General Budget, Finance Department and Director Handicrafts were present.
