FDDI signs MoU with Italian association body

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of the Shoe Manufacturers in the Marche Region (SCAM S.r.l.) Italy for broad range of collaboration to promote quality education, research & development. The MoU was signed on December 5, 2008.

On this occasion, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Deepak Kumar, IRS, Director (Admn. & Finance), FDDI, Fursatganj, Rae Bareli and Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI were present. A high level thirteen member delegation from Marche Region Italy was also present at FDDI.

FDDI, which is rated among the premier fashion institutions in the world is widely recognized as a centre of excellence & conducts wide range of long term and short term programmes in the area of Retail Management, Fashion, Footwear Design, Technology, Management, Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Creative Designing & CAD/CAM, Leather Goods & Accessories Design etc. The long-term programmes are of two to three years duration while short-term programme of six-month duration.

SCAM S.r.l. Test Laboratory for Quality and Product Conformity, is the technological services centre for the Certification and the Quality of shoe and leather industry. It's governed at 100% by SVIM SpA, Company for the Development of Marche Region, which is in turn controlled at 100% by Marche Region.

Strategic Alliance:
•Innovation of product, researches on raw materials;
•Development of technological productive process;
•Professional training of human resources;
•Diffusion and practice of quality concepts in the shoe and leather field;
•Control on the conformity to the laws and regulations issued;
•Exchange of analytical performances;
•Development of a potential project, focused on the earlier points.

Mr. Gianni Giaccaglia, Regional Minister for Industry and International Relation, Marche Region, Italy & Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI signed the MoU. The MoU is based on the strength of existing competencies of the two organizations.

Citing about the relevance & requirement of signing this MoU, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, "The MoU which is being signed today opens new vistas for cooperation between both the countries in this exciting field. It is quite broad, making it possible for both countries to work together in different areas for promotion of quality education, research & development."

"Sharing of our experiences will be highly meaningful and mutually beneficial and also paves way for greater cooperation meeting mutual needs. Several joint activities could be undertaken to result in synergy of investments and use of resources," added Mr. Lakhara.

According to Mr. Gianni Giaccaglia, Regional Minister for Industry and International Relation, Marche Region, Italy "In order to keep in line with the fast paced growth of the global industry and maintain the international standard of delivery, the signing of MoU between the two organizations would prove its worth on the global scale."
