The BSI Group, UK is a leading global provider of management systems assessment and certification solutions, with more than 60,000 certified locations and clients in over 100 locations worldwide.

It helps to implement and certify an effective management system across a broad range of business areas and standards.

It has now developed a new British standard BS 8479:2008 which helps determine a fabric's propensity to snagging by rotating chamber method and other surface defects and covers all kinds of fabrics including knitted and woven fabrics.

Earlier ASTM D 3939, which was considered the benchmark for measuring the snagging resistance of fabrics, has now been replaced with the new standard.
