Handicraft expo at city shopping mall

In order to promote the rich heritage of the handicraft industry among the city populace, the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation recently held an exhibition cum trade fair of handicraft products at a city mall.

The products on display which were produced by the craftsmen of the region included Pahang fabrics, batik fabrics and a variety of products made from rattan and bamboo. The best part of the exhibition was that the artisans were at hand to display their skills.

The craftsmen displayed their skills to the visitors in designing a batik painting or showed how products are manufactured from rattan and bamboo. At a specially created stall the visitors could also try their skills at batik painting.

The overall intention of the organizers was to promote handicraft products among city dwellers and give them a view of rich handicraft culture the country possesses. Overall, according to the organizers, the trade fair was a success as it did brisk business.
