Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh is famous for textile printing. The Indian Industries Association (IIA), the micro, small and medium enterprises body urged state government to set up a textile park in Farrukhabad district. Textile printing in Farrukhabad has been a source of livelihood for local craftsmen since past 200 years.
About 250 textile entrepreneurs are willing to locate to the proposed textile park in Farukhabad. The list of these entrepreneurs has already been submitted to the state government.
Another textile park similar to Farrukhabad will also be located near Harpur, a place in western Uttar Pradesh and the textiles ministry is ready to fund 40 percent of the total project cost.
Udyog Bandhu, an apex institution established under the UP industry department has recently held a session with textile industry representatives and stakeholders. The session was held to discuss issues regarding textile industry, particularly handloom and powerloom.
Along with the government officials, IIA, PHD chamber of commerce, Northern India Textile Association and Asschom raised issues regarding textile sector. In this regards, other issues included tax benefits, subsidy to handloom/powerloom units, skill development and power, were discussed.
