Zschimmer & Schwarz buys Münzing Leather Chemicals Business

MÜNZING has sold as of April 1, 2009 the Leather Chemicals business to ZSCHIMMER & SCHWARZ GMBH & CO KG. This spin-off is part of MÜNZING's fundamental portfolio strategy to focus on and grow the Paper and Coatings as well as the Metalworking and Industrial Fluids Additives businesses.
In line with its growth strategy ZSCHIMMER & SCHWARZ has acquired the leather business from MÜNZING in Heilbronn, Germany. The business fits well with and will be integrated into the existing ZSCHIMMER & SCHWARZ Leather Auxiliaries Division. The acquisition strengthens the position of ZSCHIMMER & SCHWARZ in the world wide market for leather and fur auxiliaries, specially in shoe upper leather.
ZSCHIMMER & SCHWARZ, founded 1894 with headquarters in Lahnstein near Koblenz, Germany develops and produces high performance chemical auxiliaries for the leather and fur, ceramic, textile and fibre industries as well as for cosmetics and cleaning applications and phosphonates.
MÜNZING, a family owned business founded 1830 with headquarters in Heilbronn, Germany develops and produces high performance additives for paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, industrial applications and building materials as well as specialities for the paper industry. Research and development are pursued in Heilbronn, Rottweil and Bloomfield, USA. Sales and technical service centers are located in Heilbronn, Rottweil, Bloomfield and Shanghai, China.
