The Philippine based, Petron Corporation has restarted the Petro Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (PetroFCC) and Propylene Recovery Unit (PRU) at its petrochemical plant located in Limay around two weeks back after having closed down operations in December last year.
Official sources from Petron told Fibre2fashion that, “Yes, the Petro Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (PetroFCC) and Propylene Recovery Unit (PRU) has been re-started a few weeks ago. The PetroFCC has a capacity of 19,000 barrels/day while the PRU can process 140,000 MT of propylene annually”
Commenting on the shutdown, the source said, “Both units were not taken off-stream because of any explosion, but were shutdown in December 2008 when we had a scheduled maintenance turnaround of the refinery and historically our Bataan refinery runs at 70-75% of total capacity”.
