In June 2008, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (FCFC) from Taiwan and Uhde Inventa-Fischer signed a contract for a polyamide 6 plant. The plant will be built in Vietnam, to the south of Ho Chi Minh City. The annual capacity of 47,000 metric tons will be used for textile applications only. Start-up of the plant is scheduled for 2010.
Uhde Inventa-Fischer delivers to FCFC the plant for the production of polyamide 6 including the know-how, and the license for the High Performance PA 6 (HPPA).
The technology used in the plant will be Uhde Inventa-Fischer's well-proven process, in combination with the reliable high-performance extractor. Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation chose this process technology because it fulfils the customer's high standards regarding productivity and product quality – thereby strengthening FCFC's market position.
FCFC also decided to order the plant from Uhde Inventa-Fischer because of the excellent raw material yield and the significantly lower amount of process energy, both characteristics of this well-established polyamide process.
