The Indonesian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden organized an exhibition on Indonesian culture and handicrafts from May 16-22 in the Latvian capital, Riga, in association with the Sleman district administration and the Museum of Latvian Foreign Arts.
The event was organized for the first time in Latvia with the support of Sleman district head and honorary consul Ayub Yunus. A presentation on Indonesian traditional cloths and batiks as well as a demonstration of batik-making was done during the exhibition.
The idea behind organizing this exhibition is to promote the potentials of Indonesian tourism like natural tourism, culture, leisure, adventures and accommodation facilities, informed an expert.
Further he added that the exhibition marked the enhanced relations between Indonesia and Latvia in culture and tourism and aimed at familiarizing the Latvian community with Indonesia and its culture.
