Japan Petrochemical Industry Association (JPCA) recently said that Japan's ethylene production in April increased by 9.2 percent to 551,200 tons, due to improved demand and a decline in stocks in China.
Average operation rate of Japan's ethylene manufacturers was 87.0 percent in April, higher than 74.1 percent in March, but lower than the 94 percent registered in the same period of the previous year.
Many petrochemical companies in Japan had cut production since last year, due to sharp fall in demand caused by the global economic recession, although operating rates of most producers is still below full capacity.
