28th India Knit Fair concludes successfully

AEPC RURAL DEVELOPMENT & LABOUR WELFARE FOUNDATION
The Apparel Export Promotion Council is the first Export Promotion Council which has started working for the Rural Development and Welfare of Workers in the Apparel Sector.It has promoted AEPC Rural Development and Labour Welfare Foundation. Under this project fifteen days practical training will be imparted on thread work and sequence work etc. There would not be any theory classes in this course except for a simple briefing on the origin and importance of surface ornamentation in valued added products, hence people with low or no literacy level could also enroll in this programme. In each batch the number of trainees would be 30.

Two centres have been launched by Shri. Rakesh Vaid, Chairman, AEPC those are, one in Palankarai village for women self help group and one in Tirupur which will impart training to TRANSGENDERS, in the presence of President, Vice-President and Councillors of Palankarai Panchayat and important personalities from the trade. In Tamilnadu training would be imparted to a total number of 4800 youth belonging to below poverty line families.

A total of 53 leading Export Houses from Tirupur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad displayed their excellent collections.

Shri. Anantha Narayanan, Assistant General Manager, State Bank of India has presented Best Exhibitors Awards and appreciation Certificates to the following exhibitors on behalf of India Knit Fair Association.

M/s. Komal Texfab Pvt. Ltd. Ahmedabad as Best Exhibitor, M/s. Kudu Knit Process (P) Ltd. Ludhiana as First Runner-up and M/s. RBR Garments, Tirupur as Second Runner-up.

FASHION SHOW
A live and physical demonstration of Fashion show displaying the latest collections on Models, beautifully choreographed was executed by M/s VIBA, Chennai a leading Fashion show agency. The mega show featured exclusive and leading models on the ramps of its modern state of the art Convention Centre.

BUYERS REPORT
Buyers have expressed their happiness and satisfied with the excellent design and collections displayed in the Fair. In total 39 Buyers from different countries and 129 Buying Houses/Agents have visited the Fair.

The three day event attracted Buying Agents and Buyers from UK, Italy, France, Turkey, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, Ghana, Austria, West Indies and Denmark etc.

The Next Fair 29th India Knit Fair is scheduled to be held from 7 – 9 October, 2009.
