The prestigious Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) is planning to set up three more centre's in Kolkatta, Rohtak and Chennai by the next academic year.

The foundation stone for the Rohtak centre was laid recently, while land for building campus in Kolkatta and Chennai have been identified.

The department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, which functions under the Ministry of Commerce, had put up the proposal to set two more centre's in 2007, in addition to the two campuses already existing at Noida and Fursatganj.

With the addition of these three new centre's in the next 15-18 months, FDDE will able to churn out more than 3,000 graduates, from the current 1,400 from its existing two institutes.
