On Monday, June 29, 2009, David Trumbull, Vice President, International Trade, National Textile Association and other representatives of the U.S. textile industry met in the Washington, D.C. at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic with representatives of the Dominican government, Inter-American Development Bank, and U.S. government textile officials to discuss sourcing of regional fabrics and of non-regional fabrics that are not commercially available the region.

Topics discussed included the concept of a database of textile and apparel companies in the region. They also explored the possibility of developing a template for commercial availability filings that could potential save manufacturers the cost of hiring consultants for such filings with the U.S. Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements under the U.S.-Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA).
