In order to enhance the exports and industrial output in the next five months, the industry and trade officials and enterprises met in an online conference between Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM city.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Bui Xuan Khu, said that the sector must make efficient efforts to get better output. The sector still is in need of correct push in the right direction, even though the National Assembly had reduced the targets for industrial products and exports, he added.

It had been expected that the industry growth will reach up to 10 percent while exports will see 3 percent growth. However, Ministry data revealed that there was plunge in industrial production output and exports from the country.

The industrial output has fallen down by 11.7 percent and export turnover by 10.13 percent. In order to boost production, Mr. Khu asked relevant authorities to ease the difficulties for enterprises. Also he asked the Electricity Board of Vietnam to improve its management and bring efficiency in their grid operation to fulfill local demands.

He further asked the Vietnam Garment and Textile Group to increase exports and expand domestic market. The relevant enterprises would enjoy the cooperation of ministry, in order to increase the exports of rice, fisheries and other agricultural products.

Japanese market which has a lower import tax for Vietnam's farming products will be the point of focus of the Ministry. It will also find new markets for rice, coffee and mechanical products in Africa and the Middle East, informed Mr. Khu.

In order to enhance exports and to build the export credit insurance project, the Industry and Trade Ministry would work with Ministry of Finance to change import export taxes. To strengthen the domestic market and to sell more products to the rural markets, more market studies should be undertaken, said Mr Khu.
