Haldia Petrochemicals restarts naphtha cracker plant

A week after a fire struck naphtha cracker plant at Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd, it has restarted production of ethylene, confirmed a source at the company to fibre2fashion.

The ethylene manufacturing plant which has a capacity to produce 520,000 tons per annum was fully functional before the fire struck the plant.

According to the source, two out of the seven furnaces are under close inspection as operating capacity is slowly being raised to normal levels.
