The government is looking forward to swell the activities of the recently established Laksalusala to enter into cotton cultivation as the climate in the surrounding area of Hambantota is perfect for cotton plantation, said Mr. Basil Rajapaksha.

Mr. Rajapaksha, Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian was speaking after the reopening of Salusala under the new name of Laksalusala. He compared the closure of Salusala to erasing the history of Sri Lanka.

MP informed that all functions undertaken by Salusala's had been cut down, except limiting it to import of textiles, but it was reactivated to a profit making venture under Mr. Mahinda Chinthana.

While talking on government's development efforts to stabilize the county's economy by strengthening the state sector he added that the current government is expected to attain the development targets of the country with the majority support.
