The first ever PV Awards organized by Première Vision will be chosen by an International jury comprised of prominent fashion professionals. The jury will be presided over by Véronique Nichanian, artistic director of men's ready-to-wear for Hermès, and a designer well known for both her taste in fabrics and her virtuosity in clothing construction. Libération, a major French daily newspaper recently quoted her as saying: "I start designing from a desire for fabrics... I think the sensuality of fabrics is what drove me to work in fashion in the first place."

Her eight fellow jury members are all fashion personalities coming from differing spheres and countries: Fabrizio Flaccomio, senior designer and head of fabric research at Prada, Oliver Horton, journalist, Hirofumi Kurino, senior advisor and creative advisor at United Arrows, Nicolas Lepoutre, coordinator of material research at Louis Vuitton, Florence Müller, fashion historian and professor at IFM Paris, Marc Ossedat, designer for Le Printemps, Kevin Tallon, creative intelligence manager, Central Saint Martins and Pascaline Wilhelm, fashion director of Première Vision.

Aimed at recognising and rewarding textile excellence, the PV Awards will crown the most outstanding fabrics created by the Première Vision's exhibitors. 4 prizes will be awarded:

THe GraNd Jury Prize 2009 for the fabric that is the most exceptional, the most symbolic of the coming fashion zeitgeist, and the most pertinent.

HaNdLe Prize 2009 for the fabric that allies the most astonishing tactile and behavioural qualities, the fabric that touches the senses and the emotions.

iNNOVaTiON Prize 2009 for the fabric that is the most innovative, the most intelligent, the most technological and creative.

iMaGiNaTiON Prize 2009 for the most daring, the most original, the most surprising fabric in terms of materials, technique, decoration or finishing.

The jury will meet for a first time in early September to make preliminary selections from the autumn-winter 2010-11 fabrics submitted by exhibitors for the Première Vision forums. These nominated fabrics will be showcased in the General Forum, a focal point of the September show. Final deliberations will take place during the show and the jury will announce the winners at a public ceremony on Friday 18 September, at noon, in the General Forum.
