Technical Textiles Centre to address environmental concerns

With initiation from the Technical Textiles Centre (CETTEX), the Leather and Footwear National Center (CNCC) and the Technical Food Center (CTAA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNID) will be working on a project to facilitate the transfer of Environmentally Sound Technology (EST).

The project named 'Med-Test' has been designed to tackle the problem of industrial pollution arising in the country. 15 enterprises from the textile and clothing, leather and footwear will take part in this project.

To be run over a period of 30 months, MED-TEST Tunisia will include training courses and technical assistance to be provided to the chosen companies. Tunisia took part in the first 'Med-Test' regional training which took place in Vienna in April.

An Advisory Committee, compromising of representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Energy and SMEs, federations and technical centers of the three sectors, UNIDO and the national coordinator of the project has been formed to monitor the project.
