The domestic market was further on dominated by enquiries for short term available cotton. In main focus in the inland as well as in Far East were extra- fine varieties, however with weakening demand towards the end of the reporting period.
Along with the continuously rising quotations in New York and firm offering prices in the countries of origin, contract closures of larger volumes in the medium staple range became more and more difficult. Only the most necessary purchases could be effected.
In the Upland range sales were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt and further in the 4th quarter 2009 and Greek descriptions for prompt loading.
ELS varieties were traded as follows: Egyptian GIZA 86, Israel Pima and USA Pima for the 4th Quarter 2009 and for the 1st quarter 2010.
