There are a lot of incentives and subsidy schemes which have been delved out by the government to different sectors, from time to time. But now, the government is planning to announce a target based subsidy scheme for major employment generating sectors like, handlooms, leather and gems and jewellery.
This target based scheme will either replace or supplement other subsides or incentive programs, which were doled out without verifying performance or its ability to generate new jobs. This new scheme would target those sectors in particular, where availing bank credit has been a problem.
This new program is being specifically targeted at the MSME segment since they are the backbone of the industrial sector in India and also have a huge ability to create new jobs. But unlike previous schemes, this scheme would carry out due diligence on performance and ability to create new jobs.
