The inquiries by local mill buyers calmed down in the reporting period compared with the preceding week. The continuous rise of the cotton quotations in New York, correspondingly firm offering prices in the countries of origin, and also high shipping rates to Northern European ports induced potential buyers to a wait and see position like in the weeks before.
Stronger interest in the small market segment of extra- fine cottons was registered.
In the Upland range sales were reported in Central Asian sorts and West African styles for nearby delivery.
In the LS/ELS range were traded: Egyptian GIZA 86, Israel Pima and Sudan Barakat for dates in the 4th quarter 2009 and in the 1st quarter 2010.
