According to data from the China Textile Industry Association, from January to September 2009, China's total imports of cotton yarn reached 745,513 tons, an increase of 20.18 percent year on year.
The total import value amounted to US $1.70 billion, an increase of 16.71 percent year on year, though; import price fell 2.55 percent year on year.
With exception of a slight decline in import value of combed cotton yarn, import amount of all other products increased year on year, including sewing thread, blended yarn and carded cotton yarn
On export side, from January to September of 2009, yarn exports totaled 400,023 tons to touch $1.37 billion in value. Export quantity, value and price fell compared to last year, but price of blended yarn was up slightly.
