The Nellore, Andhra Pradesh based Apache Footwear India Pvt Ltd and a supplier to the globally famous German footwear brand; Adidas is planning a major expansion drive which will increase its head count from 5,000 to 8,500 by December 2010.
The company has lined up an expansion programme that includes setting up of a development centre, an uppers stitching factory, a mould shop and a new footwear factory dedicated to the domestic tariff area.
Fibre2fashion spoke exclusively to the official spokesperson of Adidas in Germany, who confirmed the news and said that the new production lines will manufacture sports and indoor shoes for the domestic as well as international markets.
Mr Andy Koehler, Global Sourcing Head of Adidas was recently in India and visited the factory premises of Apache Footwear India Pvt Ltd and promised all support to the Indian operations.
