Buyers for China were dominant, followed by buyers for India. As mentioned above, there was a stronger presence of buyers for Europe in Newcastle. This was also seen in Melbourne and Fremantle.
Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 49,746 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 24 and 25) are 46,780 and 42,200 bales, respectively; an increase of 4.8% over the three sale period when compared with last year. In South African sales, where 7,725 bales were on offer, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 1.0% since last week against a 0.6% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 0.1% depreciation against the Euro.
