As per a notification from the Federal Textiles Ministry, in a bid to monitor and control yarn exports, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has set up yarn export monitoring cells in 10 different cities of the country.
These export monitoring cells have been set up in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.
This has been done on repeated demands from the value-added textile sector to ban exports of yarn from the country as prices of the same were flaring up along with which a shortage was also being created.
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), however, has raised objections to the registration of yarn exports by saying that it is a great hurdle and since yarn export was already registered with the association, there was no need for a new process.
