Modern Dyeing declares lay-off

04
Feb '10
Modern Dyeing & Screen Printing Ltd set up in Tejgaon Industrial Area in 1987 has pulled down its shutters from January 31, citing low gas pressure due to which they have to run the plant at low productivity.

The company has also failed to comply with environmental issues. Informed sources from Modern Dyeing told fibre2fashion that they do not have space to set up an effluent treatment plant.

He also added by saying that if the government sets up a central effluent treatment plant, for the industrial area, it would help them become environmentally compliant. Around 100 workers have become jobless because of the closure.

In a filing with Dhaka Stock Exchange, the company, giving reasons for the closure stated that, it has decided to lay-off due to lack of environment clearance certificate, low gas pressure and low efficiency of existing machinery.
