According to Chinese customs statistics, ASEAN is increasingly becoming a major competitor of China's clothing exports, but it is also China's largest export market for yarn and fabrics.

At the same time, China's exports of yarn and fabrics to ASEAN experienced ups and downs in the year, but quickly rebounded by the end of the year.
Exports to ASEAN grew by 34 and 49 percent in November and December respectively, to help narrow down the decline for whole of 2009 to a negative 1.3 percent.
In the US apparel market, exports from Vietnam and Bangladesh have been able to increase their market shares to 7.5 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.
