Khadi jeans attracts youngsters at expo

A Khadi Expo, recently held at Kanpur, was an arena of the complete range of Khadi products displayed by the artisans from across the country. The wide range of khadi products showcased here, included, fashion wear, carpets, ethnic sarees and linen.
Apart from this, the visitors also experienced the array of decorative as well as unique and attractive items on display. Saris, kurtis, jackets, which were displayed in the exhibition, described the ethnic culture of respective states.
Silk saris showcased at the stall of West Bengal, priced from Rs. 4,000 onwards, were drawing mammoth crowd of women. Another range of saris carrying ethnic prints illustrating Ramayana as well as designer silk saris attracted both, older and younger generation.
Apart from the Khadi products, few jute varieties were also there on display such as fine mats, curtains, window screens and handbags. A mattress worth above Rs.9,000 created from a special grass was the key attraction of the exhibition.
Carpets amounting up to Rs 25,000 with Persian or a flower design were in demand in the expo. Stalls from Fatehpur and Sajeti exhibiting khadi kurtas and jeans were the point of attraction among younger generation.
Khadi jeans woven by the Tamil Nadu weavers witnessed highest sales. 'Cool in summers and warm in winters' feature of Khadi jeans fabric, makes it more comfortable to wear than the usual jeans, said an expert.
