China's cotton imports from India continued to grow in proportion in January 2010. India continued to remain the largest exporter of cotton to China in January, and its leading advantage had expanded.
The proportion of imports of US cotton was basically stable, while Uzbek cotton made rapid growth. China's cotton imports from India were 172,000 tons in January, accounting for 57.1 percent of total imports, an increase of nearly 3 percent over the previous month.
China's cotton imports from the United States stood at 51,000 tons in January, accounting for 16.9 percent, up 0.8 percentage points over the previous month and from Uzbekistan imports totaled to 33,000 tons in January, accounting for 11.1 percent, and 6 percent higher than the previous month.
China's cotton imports from Australia were 57,000 tons in January, accounting for 2.1 percent, down 1 percent from the previous month. Proportion of other countries was less than 2 percent.
