Industry Commissioner Manoj Kumar has recently stated that, the Ludhiana based Jindal Group is to spend Rs. 2.04 billion for setting up facilities in the textile park which is taking form in Himachal.
The textile park is jointly being developed by Himachal Textile Park Ltd and the government, in the vicinity of Amb industrial area in Una district at a cost of Rs. 1.08 billion, Manoj Kumar stated.
He informed that investment worth Rs. 2.04 billion for setting up facilities in the park is to flow from two of the subsidiaries of the Jindal group namely, Jindal Medicot Ltd and Jindal Speciality Textiles Limited. It is assumed that, once these subsidiaries start production by March 2011, this will generate over 2,200 new jobs.
Whereas, Jindal Medicot is to produce medical textile products such as absorbent bleached cotton wool and cotton crepe bandages and cloth, Jindal Speciality Textiles will be manufacturing PVC laminated products, tent fabrics, and truck sliders.
