Textiles exports of Vietnam are likely to cross US $5 billion mark this year, stated the Ministry of Industry.
This has been forecast on the basis of the export earnings for first 10 months this year, which went up $4 billion, a 7.2 percent rise over the corresponding period last year.
Turnover from exports to the US market amounted to 50 percent or $2 billion in the first 10 months of 2005.
Among the export categories, cotton jackets and cotton and synthetic fibre knitted shirts for both men and women accounted for 63 percent of the total export earnings from the US market.
