The Buyer Project promoted by Assintecal - Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods - ended its participation at FIMEC 2010 - International Fair of Leather, Chemicals, Components and Equipment for Footwear and Tanneries - generating around US$ 1.5 million worth of business with the international market. Promoted with the support of Apex-Brasil - Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency -, the project gathered 19 buyers from Argentina, Peru, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala, Thailand, Mexico, and Bolivia.

During the business rounds, which had the participation of 120 components companies, Colombia and Argentina accounted for the largest volume of business. Over the next 12 months, the results from this trade fair may reach as much as US$ 8.5 million.

Satisfied with the innovative materials, the international buyers said that the event was very important, mainly to establish contacts. Coming to the fair for the first time, business representative Ricardo Zepeda, from Cliff & Company - Mexico, sought to strengthen relations with suppliers of direct injection systems, and exchange information with companies that do not know the Mexican market. "IÂ'm going back to Mexico with lots of contacts and thereÂ's high expectation of business with the Brazilian industry", he pointed out.

The Argentine entrepreneur Juan Pablo Pisarro from the Frabidel Group S.A., an injected footwear manufacturer, in his turn, was surprised at the new developments in terms of environment-friendly materials and the concern of companies to ensure a "greener" production process. "This is the great distinctive feature between the Brazilian production sector and that of China. This is a position that we value a lot", he says.

Luana Wagner, who is in charge of the development of materials at J Shoes, a Thai company, also walked around the aisles at FIMEC in search of new items and developments in terms of fabrics, ornaments, and environment-friendly materials. "I congratulate the Brazilian suppliers for their distinctive and high-quality products", she said. Located in Bangkok, J Shoes, which manufactures womenÂ's and menÂ's shoes, produces about 140 thousand pairs a day.
