On April 26, power loom owners in Erode, India, had been on a one-day strike to protest against the rise in cotton yarn prices.

With power loom owners in Erode, Veerappanchatram, Chennimalai and other areas joining the protest, more than 30,000 power looms had been off-work on Monday.

More so, power loom weavers attached to the South India Textile Manufacturer's Association, who are already on a strike since a couple of days, said that, their protests would continue till Wednesday, April 28, and urged the Union Government to cut down yarn prices.
