Paraxylene prices fell as energy market declined yesterday. It was important to note that many Asian PX manufacturers announced a shutdown in May-June. Currently price of PX in the S E Asian market is around US $1060/ton.
Downstream demand of PTA is expected to decline gradually in May. A fall from upstream and fluctuations in the financial markets have made PTA weak. PTA in S E Asian market hovered around US $965 -955/ton.
Ethylene prices declined marginally to level of $1260/ton in S E Asian market. In N E Asian market ethylene price assessed around US $1300/ton as sellers strictly rejected to lower price below $1300/ton.
MEG price plunged down to $875/ton in S E Asian market. In Chinese domestic market price was in the range of RMB 7,400 - 7500 per ton.
FG PET Chip hovered around $1160 - 1165 per ton.
