The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) teamed up with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) to develop and execute the Energy Management System (EnMs) of the textile sector, and this endeavour has depicted remarkable results in bringing down the energy expenses of certain mills by 15 percent.
In the first phase, the scheme was executed in 25 APTMA member mills in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi, APTMA spokesperson informed and added that, the execution process was aptly concluded and is yielding satisfactory outcomes.
The EnMs have been provided with an in-built Energy Data Monitoring System, which is important and is meant to substantiate the sustainability of the scheme, he stated.
With the execution of the EnMs, the prospective savings in the 12 chosen textile mills are equivalent to saving a generation capacity of 12.4 MW and 172 million PKR. The savings that the concerned mills have already realized by now is on par with a generation capacity of 2.4 MW and 39 million PKR, he stated.
