Second GDS Charity Soccer Cup - resounding success

The second Charity Soccer Cup championing football for a good cause was held by organisers E.M. Project. 13 May saw the sporting event held under the auspices of GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories take place at the sports facilities of TV Grafenberg in Düsseldorf.
Ten teams from the fields of fashion and lifestyle entered the footballing competition demonstrating their skills on the pitch. Those involved included Bad Bags Cowboys, Gant, Diesel and Beachers as well as Bondi Marketing, Dominici and Catering Art. Other teams rising to the sporting challenge were BTL, E.M. Project and GDS.
Opening the tournament with an honorary kick-off were Kirstin Deutelmoser, Director GDS/GLOBAL SHOES, and actor Karsten Speck. Proceeds from the event will go to the St. Raphael Haus, an integrative child and youth welfare facility. Competition champion was Team GDS which prevailed in an exciting final over Team Catering Art. Afterwards the hosts invited players, fans and friends to a cheerful evening to end the tournament.
“Social commitment is as important as ever,” explained Kirstin Deutelmoser. “Doing what we can for less fortunate children and teenagers in Düsseldorf is a key concern of ours. Which is why we are delighted to be able to support the work of St. Raphael Haus with the proceeds from the Charity Soccer Cup.”
Commenting on the event organiser Eddi Mackowiak also stressed: “We saw a really great sporting event today. Though I was particularly delighted at the many visitors who opened their hearts and donated so generously. Every euro helps the children.”
The next GDS / GLOBAL SHOES exhibitions will be held from 10 to 12 September 2010. The fair dates for 2011 are: 16 to 18 March and 7 to 9 September.
