Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia released The Consumer Price Indices, for October 2005.
Compared to September 2005, in October 2005 prices of consumer goods rose on average by 0.2 percent. The annual inflation rate was 3.1 percent.
In October prices rose the most in the following groups: - Clothing and footwear (by 4.8 percent) - Education (by 0.8 percent) - Restaurants and hotels (by 0.5 percent) - Housing, water, electricity, gas and other (by 0.4 percent)
Prices fell the most in the following groups: - Recreation and culture (by 1.9 percent) - Miscellaneous goods and services (by 0.5 percent) - Food and non-alcoholic beverages and communication (by 0.2 percent).
The annual inflation rate in the 25 EU Member States, measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, was in September 2005 on average 2.5 percent. It was the highest in Latvia (7.4 percent) and the lowest in Sweden and Finland (1.1 percent). In Slovenia it was 3.2 percent.
The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (hereinafter SORS) is the main producer of national statistics and the cohesive force in this field. In addition to linking and harmonising the statistical system, its most important tasks are international co-operation, determination of methodological and classification standards, anticipation of users' needs collection, processing and dissemination of data and taking care of their confidentiality.
