Retail garments & knitted goods prices move up in Oct

Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia released the Retail price indices for October 2005.
In comparison with September 2005, in October 2005 retail prices on average remained unchanged. At the annual level, retail prices were up by 3.8 percent.
Prices of services decreased by 0.4 percent while prices of goods were up by 0.1 percent.
The following prices fell the most:
- Cultural services (by 3.3 percent)
- Fresh vegetables (by 2.9 percent)
- Processed and canned vegetables (by 2.2 percent)
- Processed and tinned meat (by 1.7 percent).
The following prices rose the most:
- Garments (by 8.7 percent)
- knitted goods (by 6.2 percent)
- Agricultural tools (by 2.8 percent)
- Processed and canned fruit (by 2.1 percent).

It is expected that 2005 will be the last year in which data on retail price indices will be calculated and published.
Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia is the main producer and co-ordinator of carrying out programs of statistical surveys.
In addition to linking and co-ordinating the statistical system, its most important tasks include international co-operation, determining methodological and classification standards, anticipating users' needs, collection, processing and dissemination of data, and taking care of data confidentiality.
