Currently, Midlothian is undergoing efforts to curtail people from throwing away textiles as well as to squeeze the amount of clothing going in to landfills. As the people in Midlothian throw away around 1,300 tons of textiles, each year, a trial textile collection service is about to be commenced in the region.
Around 5,000 homes in Bonnyrigg are delivered special textile recycling bags under a six-month trial, which is going on in the region, wherein the local people are being encouraged for textile recycling, under this trial.
Such a practice also shrinks landfill fees and tax charges, apart from cutting down the size of waste material that enters the landfills. All textiles, even the tatty ones can be reused. Those cloths, which can not be reused for wearing purposes, could be used as rags for industry or as stuffing material for mattresses.
The people who donate their clothes and textile to their favorite charities are suggested to continue with the donation.
