Department of Statistics, Singapore released Consumer Price Index in October rose by 0.4 percent over September 2005.

Dearer ready-made garments, which more than offset cheaper footwear raised the clothing & footwear index by 1.3 percent.

Food price went up 0.3 percent, mainly on account of dearer fresh pork, vegetables and seafood.

Housing cost increased by 1.3 percent due to higher electricity tariff and service and conservancy charges.

As a result of lower car prices and cheaper petrol, the transport and communication index fell by 0.6 percent.

The increase of 0.7 percent in recreation and other index was mainly accounted for by the higher cost of holiday travel.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the consumer price index in October 2005 rose by 0.5 percent over the previous month.

The consumer price index rose by 1.1 percent compared with same month a year ago. The CPI for first ten months of this year rose by 0.3 percent over the same period of 2004.
