The Sabah branch of the Handicraft Development Corporation of Malaysia intends to earn revenue worth RM 600,000 through sale of handicraft items at the Craft Malaysia Promotions programme, which would be organized at Sabah's Lintasan Deasoka from June 24 and July 2, 2011.
The Corporation set this target in view of the sales worth over RM 500,000, that it attracted during the programme, last year.
There are 80 craft entrepreneurs, mainly representing the metal, textile and forest produce industry from Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia who would be participating in the programme, which is being organized in Sabah for the sixth time.
Batik accounted for around 60 percent of the overall craft sales last year, which clearly shows that batik has great potential for growth.
