The OEKO-TEX speakers will present methods for improving and managing global sustainability measures with emphasis on third party, independent certifications as important and effective business tools.
“As consumer demands for product safety, social responsibility, and environmental performance have grown, brands and retailers have required their supply chains to become more compliant, more transparent, and more responsive,” said Anna Czerwinska, marketing and communication manager at OEKO-TEX and one of the presenters.
Marc Sidler, co-presenter and head of marketing and sales at TESTEX, one of the sixteen OEKO-TEX member institutes, said, “Calls for increased sustainability and transparency, especially at the consumer level, are growing substantially around the world. This international megatrend will require companies along the entire global textile supply chain to accelerate their sustainability initiatives in order to meet the market's demands.”
Planet Textiles is an annual independent conference dedicated to reducing the impact of textiles on the environment. This year, Planet Textiles will take place the day after the Sustainable Apparel Coalition hosts its annual meeting and the day before the Copenhagen Fashion Summit on apparel and the environment.
