Philippine fabric expo explores growth prospects

Various sessions were organised on the status of the Philippine garments, leather goods and fabric industries, where it is heading and its potential for growth. Investment incentives or opportunities available to the investors were also discussed.

The four-day expo was endorsed by the Philippine Board of Investment (BOI) and the Confederation of Wearables Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP). Hong Kong based CP Exhibitions was the international organiser and sales coordinator for the event, while Philippine Exhibits and Themeparks Corporation (PETCO) was the co-organiser.

"Many reforms are being done by the administration to ensure sustainable economic growth in the Philippines that will support the growth of many industries, including wearables and textile," said BOI chairman Ramon M. Lopez during the expo. He also emphasized on the government's commitment to assist stakeholders from the garments, textile, and leather goods sector, through the manufacturing resurgence strategy and other initiatives underway.

The expo also arranged a series of factory visits for investors, business matching, and forums which were open for the public. (RR)
